Do I have to configure this all on my own?
Only if you want to.
Some artists like the feeling of accomplishment they get from doing much of the website work on their own.
Some artists know they can do the website work, and so they will, because it is cost-effective.
Some artists prefer to spend as much time as possible making art and would rather let someone else take care of the technical website details.
Whether you prefer to do it all on your own or spend as little time as possible setting up and maintaining your site, I can help you.
There are 4 plans to help you get your site up and running and we can work together to figure out which plan works best for your particular situation.
The DIY
You open a Squarespace account, obtain or transfer a website domain, install the Artist Portfolio template, upload your images and text, modify the template pages, and arrange the galleries to your liking.
with help from over 2 hours of step-by-step instructional videos broken down into bite-size, manageable sections you can view and review as you go along.
Once you’ve got the hang of adding artwork to your galleries, maintaining them is easy.
And if you’re really into web design, you can use the template as a starting point and go from there. Squarespace has myriad design features and functionalities that you can use to enhance your site once it is up and running.
I’m always available at my VIP day rate if you change your mind or run out of time and would prefer that I assist with the setup and/or maintenance.
The Flying Start
takes only 1 week from the time of our project kickoff meeting until your site is ready for the world to see.
Before the project starts we will schedule a call to discuss the process in detail and determine if the Flying Start is the right package for you, or if The DIY, Full Service, or Completely Custom package would suit your needs better.
You open a Squarespace account and I walk you through obtaining or transferring a website domain. You provide the images and text. I configure the Artist Portfolio template for you and then we meet to review the site and finalize the details. I make the agreed-upon changes and walk you through taking your site live.
You feel confident that you can make future changes - adding and removing artworks from your gallery and updating your about page, etc.,
with help from over 2 hours of step-by-step instructional videos broken down into bite-size, manageable sections you can view and review as you go along.
I am always available at the VIP day rate if you change your mind or run out of time and would prefer that I assist with the updates.
The Full Service
takes only 1 week from the time of our project kickoff meeting until your site is ready for the world to see.
Before scheduling the project we will meet to discuss the process in detail and determine if the Full Service is the right package for you, or if The DIY, Flying Start, or Completely Custom package would suit your needs better.
You may want custom features that are not included in the template. We discuss and agree on how to best achieve your requirements. You open a Squarespace account and I walk you through obtaining or transferring a website domain. You provide the images and text. I configure the Artist Portfolio template for you and then we meet to review the site and finalize the details. I make the agreed-upon changes and walk you through taking your site live.
We meet as necessary to discuss updates to your site - adding and removing pieces from your gallery, updating the about page, adding or removing custom features, etc. I make those changes for you at the VIP day rate.
The Completely Custom
is for you if you want a site that doesn’t look anything like the Artist Portfolio template.
And it takes only 2 weeks from the time of our project kickoff meeting until your site is ready for the world to see.
Before scheduling the project we will meet to discuss the process in detail and determine if the Completely Custom is the right package for you, or if The DIY, Flying Start, or Full Service package would suit your needs better.
You open a Squarespace account and I walk you through obtaining or transferring a website domain. You provide the images and text. I build your home page and we meet to review it and finalize the site design. I then build your full site and we meet again for a final review. I make the edits and then walk you through taking your site live.
We meet as necessary to discuss updates to your site. I make those changes for you at the VIP day rate.

How long will it be until my site is live?
If you’re setting up the template on your own - the answer is “it depends” - on your experience with this sort of technology, on your creative process, on your access to your artwork images, on your deadline. This is a very individual thing.
When I’m working with you to help you configure the Artist Portfolio template the process takes one week from the time of your kick-off meeting. Prior to kick-off you can gather your artwork images and text.
When we’re working on a Completely Custom site, the process takes a little longer but it’s still only 2 weeks from the time of your kick-off meeting. Prior to kick-off you can gather your artwork images and text.
How much does it cost?
The DIY - template plus instructional videos, $459
The Flying Start - template, instructional videos and initial setup, $459 plus $2,000.
The Full Service - template, instructional videos, and initial setup, $459 plus $2000, plus hourly rate for maintenance and customized features.
The Completely Custom - custom site starting at $3,500 plus hourly rate for maintenance, for up to 6 pages, with search engine optimization(SEO) and connection to features such as email content management systems and shopping carts.
Hourly rate: $100
You will also have to host your site on Squarespace and register your domain (website name) if you don’t already have a domain name.
Squarespace hosting: currently $25/month or $192/year
Domain registration: usually $15-$25 per year, depending on the name you choose.
